Getting ready for the end-of-year festive season is always a rush with deadlines, catchups and massive feasts all crammed together. And there's no better time to look your leanest best than when you see your nagging aunts or those old friends who only come back once a year.
High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a great way to get your burn on and see results fast. A workout strategy alternating short periods of intense exercises provides improved athletic capacity and condition as well as improved glucose metabolism.
How it works: Do each exercise for the prescribed time period and push yourself to get out as many reps and miles as possible. Keep your rest times to a minimum between each exercise. After completing one set, give yourself 2-3 minutes to hydrate and catch your breath, and then push yourself on the next set. The key is keeping your intensity high for each exercise!
